I 'deeply regret' affair with Katie Price’s husband, says best friend

Katie Price's best friend has admitted she had an affair with the former glamour model’s husband Kieran Hayler, and says she "deeply regrets" it.

Jane Pountney, 49, released a statement insisting she "deeply regrets" her seven-month relationship with the former glamour model's third husband.

The statement, which was released by Pountney and her husband Derrick, said: "It is true that Jane and Kieran Hayler had an affair. This is something that Jane deeply regrets and we will not provide any more details about it.

“It is true that Kate found out about this affair on Wednesday 7 May, 2014.

“Current reports regarding this being "a storm in a teacup" and the affair being a "drunken kiss" do not accurately reflect the situation. Those remarks should not be used to undermine Kate's account which we accept is accurate.

“We are going to spend some time together deciding what our future holds and would reiterate that we would appreciate now being left alone to do that.”

The mother of two's "full blown sexual affair" with the builder was revealed last Wednesday when Katie announced she was divorcing the father of her eight-month-old son Jett, due to Hayler’s actions.

Katie, who has recently discovered she is six months pregnant with the couple's second child, tweeted at the time: "Kieran is a disgusting human being doing this after I've just had a baby and still doing it till I caught them."

The reality TV star - who also has children Harvey, 11, Junior, eight, and Princess, six, from previous relationships - also branded her best pal Jane - who she has known since she was 15 - a "clone".

Following her foul-mouthed Twitter tirade, Price stormed round to Jane's house in West Sussex for a showdown, before being escorted out three hours later by Derrick.

The reality TV star later released a statement on her official website, claiming her earlier outburst on the social networking site was a sign of her "heart breaking".

“I appreciate most people will have seen my tweets on the subject of my marriage to Kieran,” her statement read.

“I make no apologies for them though it will be appreciated that, sending them immediately after Kieran confirmed to me what he had been doing for the last seven months, those tweets were a sign of my heart breaking.

“That he was doing it with a close friend of nearly 20 years is hard to understand.

“This statement however is from my head, not my heart.

“I am appalled that someone I loved, trusted and believed in has behaved in this way. If he had so little respect for our relationship I would have hoped he would have thought about our child or the one that we have on the way.

“That he did not means he will no longer be part of my life. I will do all I can to ensure he maintains a relationship with his children should he want that.

“I am so grateful for the love of my children and family at this time.”

Price married Hayler in January 2013, just a few months after they started dating.
