Australian scientists invent shark-proof invisibility wetsuit

Researchers in Australia have invented a new shark-proof wetsuit.

Teaming up with the University of Western Australia, SAMS- that's Shark Attack Mitigation Systems, naturally - came up with new designs for wetsuits and surfboards that turn sharks away.

Have a look at this in action at about 30 seconds in:

Apparently, even though sharks have fantastic senses, they still use their sight in the last few seconds of an attack - and decide to back out or not.

"The two design variations either present the wearer as potentially dangerous and unpalatable to a shark, or make it very difficult for the shark to see the wearer in the water," the website explains.

Personally, we'd go for shark invisibility.

Of course, the company does have the disclaimer that they can't guarantee 100% immunity from sharks. It's not like the suits are made of titanium or anything.

Still, better than being eaten.
