Ricci: 'After.Life' not a horror movie

Christina Ricci doesn’t believe her new movie is a horror.

Despite telling the tale of a woman who finds herself on a mortuary slab following an accident and is unsure if she is alive or dead, Christina believes ‘After.Life’ is more of a “character” film.

She said: “For me, the script read much more like a sort of character piece.

“I kind of missed the scariness of it because I was sort of taken in by this question of death and if you have feelings after you're dead. If I woke up tomorrow dead, how would I feel.”

She adds the film - which features Liam Neeson as a mortician who attempts to convince Christina’s character Anna she is dead – did begin to invade her normal life eventually as she stopped socialising while making the film.

She told the Los Angeles Times: “Anna was really creeping in one morning when I woke up and looked in the mirror and said, 'Oh, my God, I am so pale. I have gone Goth!' "

‘After.Life’ – the first directorial outing for Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo – was released in the US on April 9.
