TV show prop causes train security scare
A prop from BBC spy drama 'Spooks’ was mistaken for a bomb, causing a train line to be closed.
Police rushed to a yard close to Deptford station, south London, after calls concerning an oil drum with wires sticking out.
Worried officers took immediate action and called train operators asking for services to be suspended on the line going into the station.
A Southeastern Trains spokesman said: "We had a report from Met Police that a suspect package was found near Deptford station.
"As a result, we took advice from Met Police which required us stopping all trains moving through that area until the package was made safe.
"There were delays to about a dozen trains. Everything was back up and running by around midnight."
A spokeswoman for company Kudos Film, which produces the drama, said yard owners had quickly told police the object was only a prop.
The source said: “The prop used on ‘Spooks’ was stored securely in the production's private courtyard.
"A member of the public looked into the yard and, on seeing the prop, decided to alert the emergency services as a precaution.
"As soon as the ‘Spooks’ production team were contacted, they confirmed the package was just a prop and not dangerous."
