A bleak story set in Pinochet’s Chile of the late 1970s in which the film’s co-writer Castro plays a seedy dancer in a dismal bar who is obsessed with John Travolta’s character in 'Saturday Night Fever', the Tony Manero of the title.

Raul is more than a dancer however - he’s an immoral killer and thief who murders for the sheer pleasure of it.

Castro turns in a stunning performance as the devoid-of-reason Raul and the film, while consistently depressing, remains gripping - but it’s hard going.
