In reaching the top of the US singles chart with 'Violet Hill' last week, Coldplay have become the first British act in over a decade to get to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

The last British act to achieve the feat was the Spice Girls, who reached number one with 'Wannabe' in 1997.
