Doherty vows to clean up his act

British rocker Pete Doherty has vowed to make a renewed effort to give up drugs and get his life together after he was released from prison early this week.

The Babyshambles frontman walked free from London's Wormwood Scrubs jail on Tuesday morning, after serving 29 days of a 14-week prison sentence for probation violation and drugs offences. The singer found life as an inmate tough but admits the experience convinced him to sort his life out and put his demons behind him.

He says: "Prison was hard. I don't want to think about it too much now I'm free. I've been dreaming of this day. I was in solitary confinement for most of it.

"I'm going to try to keep it together."

Doherty had to cancel several music events after he was jailed last month including a solo show at London's Royal Albert Hall on April 26.

But he has now confirmed his release means his planned performance at Britain's famous Glastonbury Festival in June will go ahead as planned.

He adds: "I will be performing at Glastonbury."
