Dublin student hits Ireland's silver screens this weekend

Dublin's Sarah Bolger is set to hit our screens this coming weekend in the 'Spiderwick Chronicles', a movie version of the bestselling book series of the same name.

It tells the story of a young family discovering a world of fairies, goblins and other mythical creatures in their own back yard, and the dangers and adventures that they find along the way. The film grossed $55m (€35.6m) in its opening weekend in the USA.

It's nothing new for the 17-year-old Loreto Beaufort, Rathfarnham student.

Sarah has been acting for over ten years now and has had roles in films like 'Strormbreaker', 'In America', 'Tara Road' and 'A Love Divided', this time playing the role of Mallory Grace the daughter of a mom recently divorced from her husband.

Mrs Grace and her family move in to her great-aunt's old home the Spiderwick Estate in New England for a fresh new start. However Mallory stumbles upon a dumbwaiter system behind a wall. Jared (Freddie Highmore) her younger brother discovers a key which leads to their great grandfather's hidden study, and the fantasy world that exists within the Spiderwick Estate.

Sarah shot to fame after her critically acclaimed performance as Christy in Jim Sheridan's 'In America'.

Despite her role as one of the lead stars in a US$90m (€58m) Hollywood movie, the Dublin teenager insists she's just an ordinary fifth year student.
