Minister says RTÉ can continue buying foreign shows

Communications Minister Eamon Ryan says he has no intention of stopping RTÉ from buying overseas dramas like 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Eastenders'.

Mr Ryan has accused the state broadcaster of chasing ratings by broadcasting such programmes at the expense of home-made television.
