Dublin set for Riverdance record attempt

More than 150 dancers will today attempt to tap their way into the history books as the world's longest Riverdance line.

Dublin's best dance schools have come together to try and break the existing UK-held record of 116 people performing the famous routine together.

Musicians from the Kinsealy-Malahide Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Éireann music school will accompany the five-minute act at St Stephen's Green in central Dublin.

Also, to mark the annual Guinness World Records Day, Irish-born dancer James Devine will attempt to break his world record for most taps in one minute on the rooftops of New York.

Guinness World Records Day is a global event that will see record attempts taking place all over the world.

Now in its third year, the day is a celebration of the month of November when the Guinness World Records book first became the biggest selling commercial book of all time.
