Elton John: 'I regret not speaking up for gays'

British superstar Elton John has become an ambassador for homosexuals after realising he's stayed quiet on gay rights issues for too long.

The singer sparked controversy in Poland last year when he urged a Warsaw crowd to "be more tolerant of homosexuals" - but he concedes he should have spoken out much earlier.
