Tommy Lee Jones is hoping to follow up his directorial debut on 'The three burials of Melquidaes Estrada' by turning Cormac McCarthy's ultra-violent 'Blood Meridian' into a new movie.

The actor was hired to write a screenplay based on the book, but the film has since been shelved because movie executives feared it was too violent.
