The 40-Year-Old Virgin finds love - eventually

A film about a 40-year-old man who has yet to, er, you know, nudge-nudge, wink-wink; you know, do it; well, it might have turned out to be a knuckles-on-the-ground low-brainer.

The 40-Year-Old Virgin

Director: Judd Apatow

Cast: Steve Carell, Catherine Keener, Paul Rudd

Cert: 15

A film about a 40-year-old man who has yet to, er, you know, nudge-nudge, wink-wink; you know, do it; well, it might have turned out to be a knuckles-on-the-ground low-brainer. But, surprisingly, this one doesn't quite dive to such depths.

It's not, of course, high art but some of the gags aren't entirely gross.

The story concerns Andy, who remains unbedded, which brings his pals into the picture with a plan to end his barren spell. He is, natch, willing, but on his own terms: not just sex, but love.

The plot treats Andy with sympathy, while still somehow sniggering behind his back; like, this guy is 40, get a life and somebody to take under the blankets!

Star Rating: 3/5
