Glory days conference on The Boss

The life and work of Bruce Springsteen are to be mulled over by academics and historians in the United States at a conference dedicated to the singer.

The three-day symposium will feature keynote speakers and scores of Springsteen-related discussions on everything from theology to Vietnam and feminism.

More than 150 papers will be presented at the event, to be held at Monmouth University in his home state of New Jersey.

Daniel Cavicchi, author of Tramps Like Us: Music and Meaning Among Springsteen Fans, said the music legend had inspired countless leaders and academics for more than three decades.

“This symposium is a unique opportunity for all of Bruce’s fans to publicly meet and consider the power of his work and his legacy,” he said.

Some 500 people are expected to attend a multitude of sessions including Bruce Springsteen and Catholicism and Bruce Springsteen and the Creation of Community.

The conference, entitled Glory Days, begins next Friday, September 9.
