Schiffer mountain-top advert banned

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer has been banned from filming an advert in her native Germany over fears she could damage a national landmark.

The model was to stand on the top of the country's highest mountain peak Zugspitze in a TV commercial for a mail-order company.

A spokesman for the Bavarian state forestry ministry said he would not allow Schiffer to pose alongside giant inflatable catalogues on the 2,962m (9,718ft) Alpine summit.

The ad will now be shot on the patio lower down the mountain.
