Ryan's performance a little ropey

Meg Ryan is getting mixed reviews for her new film, Against The Ropes in which she plays a tough boxing manager.

Most reviewers in the States are suggesting that she’s better off sticking to romantic comedies. Her last film – dark thriller In the Cut – did badly at the box office.

Ryan herself says she will continue to choose roles that she finds challenging, but will not neglect the fans.

“I learned on the last movie that there’s a very particular idea of me that people don’t want to give up. And you know what? That’s fine, I’m happy to continue doing comedies as well.”
