Promising newcomer filming in Dublin
Romola Garai, the British actress who has been nominated as the Most Promising Newcomer in the Independent Film Awards for her role in I Capture The Castle, is currently rehearsing in Dublin for her next film, Inside I’m Dancing.
In it she plays a young woman hired to look after two handicapped men, one a paraplegic and one with cerebral palsy, both of whom fall in love with her.
The role is a marked change from her most recent part, as a salsa-dancing American in Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, the sequel to Dirty Dancing. She filmed it in Puerto Rico with Mexican actor Diego Luna playing a young Cuban from the wrong side of the tracks.
“I felt like this big gangly girl from England set down in this tropical country. It was a laugh, but as far as the dancing went, I had nothing to offer them,” she told interviewers.
