Chart act Suede have thrown their weight behind one of the entries for BBC2 heritage competition Restoration – after filming their latest video there.

The band set the promo for next single Attitude at Wilton’s Music Hall in east London, which features in the last heat of the competition tomorrow night.

In Restoration, viewers have been voting to save a decaying architectural gem with the aim of restoring the winner to its past glory. The live final takes place on Sunday.

Suede’s video was shot at the run down venue with veteran actor John Hurt as a music hall-style version of singer Brett Anderson.

Anderson said today: “We chose Wilton’s because we wanted somewhere that had a unique theatre feel, that was beautiful and old – this place fits.

“I’ve always liked old buildings that feel like they’ve been lived in. You can almost feel the history and the character of this place.

“It’s not got that modern, efficient feel. Everyone should support this building.”

Hurt added: “This is a terrific building. The theatre is incredible. It’s one of the last original music halls and should definitely be preserved.”
