Ex-model accepts damages over break-up claim
A former model today accepted substantial undisclosed libel damages in the UK over a claim that she was blamed for the break-up of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall’s relationship.
Emma Woollard, whose career was at its highest in the 1980s and early 90s, brought the High Court action over an article which appeared in the Mail on Sunday in January.
Her solicitor, Rachel Atkins, told Mr Justice Gray in London that the allegation was based on the misreading of an earlier article printed in 1988.
Ms Woollard was very concerned that it would be understood to mean that she had had a relationship with Jagger and had indeed been blamed for the break-up.
Ms Atkins said Associated Newspapers Ltd had published an apology in which it made clear that Ms Woollard never had a relationship of any kind with the rock star and was not responsible for any break-up.
It had agreed to pay her substantial compensation and legal costs.
