Nolan to be honoured with award
Director Christopher Nolan is to receive a prestigious Visionary Filmmaker Award.
The success comes even though he has only made three movies – Following, Memento and most recently, Insomnia, starring Al Pacino and Robin Williams.
Palm Springs International Film Festival director Mitch Levine said: “In his brief time as a feature film director, he has redefined and advanced the very language of cinema.”
Previous award winners include Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann and M. Night Shyamalan, who shot box office hit Signs. The award was created in memory of festival founder Sonny Bono.
The 14th Palm Springs International Film Festival starts on January 9.
