Winona Ryder trial postponed
Winona Ryder’s shoplifting trial was today moved to October 15.
Judge Elden Fox postponed the case, which was scheduled to start today, following a meeting between prosecutors and Ryder’s lawyer Mark Geragos.
Mr Geragos is currently involved in another trial.
Judge Fox told Beverly Hills Superior Court today: “This matter is going to be continued to October 15 for jury trial.
“The court is advised that both sides will be ready to proceed.”
Ryder, who was not in court today, must appear Tuesday when jury selection in her case is expected to begin.
The actress is accused of stealing designer clothes and accessories from an exclusive store.
The 30-year-old Little Women star denies shoplifting more than €4,500 worth of goods from trendy Saks Fifth Avenue store in Beverly Hills just before Christmas last year.
She could receive more than three years in jail if she is convicted of all the felony charges against her.
Ryder has pleaded not guilty to charges of second degree burglary, grand theft, vandalism and possession of a controlled substance, the painkiller Oxycodone.
