Vicar urges Beckhams not to baptise Brooklyn
A Bradford vicar is urging David and Victoria Beckham not to get their son Brooklyn baptised.
The Rev John Hartley sent a letter to the footballer saying he should find faith in Jesus himself first.
He penned the note after Beckham said he wanted Brooklyn christened in an interview.
The England and Manchester United player said: "I definitely want Brooklyn to be christened - but I don't know into what religion yet."
The Sun says Rev Hartley, 45, sent the letter to Manchester United's Old Trafford stadium and put a copy in his parish magazine.
The vicar of St Luke's wrote: "I hope you'll discover a living faith in Jesus for yourself. But don't make a promise for Brooklyn that you don't mean.
"That would be a terrible start to his life."
Rev Hartley, who was a Manchester United fan as a child, said : "David's comment suggests he is not a committed follower of Jesus."
