New Jodie Foster film breaks US takings record

Jodie Foster's new film The Panic Room has broken the Easter box office record in the US.

It took over £21m (€23m) this weekend, beating previous record holder The Matrix by nearly £1.5m (€1.7m).

It is also Foster's biggest-ever opening for a film.

Animated adventure Ice Age held on to the number two spot with £13m (€14.7m), with Disney comedy The Rookie debuting in third place.
