JK Rowling told 'you'll never make any money from writing'
JK Rowling says she was told she would never make any money from writing children's books.
She says she "didn't do any housework for four years" while she wrote books and looked for a publisher.
The Harry Potter author talks about her success in a BBC Omnibus special to be shown over Christmas.
Rowling said: "Actually, the truth is that I didn't do any housework for four years. Things just piled up and there were a lot of takeaway meals.
"When I eventually found a publisher I was told I wouldn't make any money writing children's books and shouldn't expect any.
"I should just do what I do for the love of it."
