Apple quietly extends first gen Apple Watch's warranty

Apple has extended the warranty for its Apple Watch Series 1 up to three years.

The complimentary repair coverage can be applied to Sport, Edition, and Hermes models.

A public announcement regarding the repair extension has not been made.

The new warranty policy is associated with faulty adhesive and the battery which swells once the watch is overcharged or overheated.

This causes the screen to come out of the watch casing.

To get a free repair, users will need to schedule an appointment at Apple’s Genius Bar.

Users may also receive a refund for the previous repairs by contacting Apple Support via email or phone.

The flaw was not detected with the second generation watches introduced in 2016.
