Pokémon GO has "full access" to your Gmail account

The legend of Pokémon never seems to diminish and when you think it’s dead in the water another reincarnation appears. This time in the guise of Pokémon GO, a free app for Android and iOS where you can roam the streets and catch your favourite Pokémon, do battle with other players, and evolve your characters.

It has exploded over the last few days with people catching Pokémon using their mobile device’s GPS capability at home, at school, and even at work. Never too old, eh? Issues have arisen with the concept including four suspected robbers luring people to certain locations with the potential of catching Pokémon in Missouri.

When signing into the game players have the option to sign in using their Google account. This, however, gives Pokémon GO full access to their Gmail and all other branches of their Google account if using an iPhone. This issue apparently does not exist when it comes to Android users.

With privacy an ever-growing issue when it comes to social media, tech devices, and social apps, this will call into question more and more what people are actually sending companies and organisations via their devices.
