Chrome fixes annoying backspace control - it won't take you to previous page

It's one of the more strange and irritating shortcuts ever imagined, capable of wiping out a lot of work without any warning. And the folks at Google have finally listened to our pleas. From July, backspace on Google Chrome will no longer take users to the previous webpage.

Praise be! It really wasn't the smartest shortcut to use for something which isn't difficult to manage with a mouse by just right clicking and going to back or with the left arrow key symbol at the top of the screen.

There's some information on the decision to remove the backspace control over here - which basically points to 'years of user complaints' and the relatively few people who actually use the shortcut as it stands.

Expect that backspace shortcut to stop functioning on the 26th of July, 2016.
