iPhone 7 may not feature Smart Connector

Previous rumours indicated that Apple would be porting over its Smart Connector from the iPad Pro to the next iPhone. But now there are conflicting reports.

iPhone 7 may not feature Smart Connector

Macotakara, the Japanese blog that posted the initial rumour, has since done a U-turn. It says that Apple has shelved plans to include a Smart Connector port on the iPhone 7.

This port would allow users to connect accessories like a keyboard to the device, as it does with the iPad Pro. It can also be used as an alternative charging point.

This isn’t the only connector and port related rumour that we’ve heard about the next iPhone of late. It’s also being touted that Apple will ditch the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, possibly to make the next iPhone even slimmer.

Expect plenty more leaks and rumours in the coming months before Apple officially announces what it has in store with the next iPhone in September.
