Twitter no longer just a social networking app

If you browse the iOS app store today, you'll find Twitter under a new category. Rather than being listed as a social networking app, it's now labelled a news app.

The Twitter app is currently top of the news category's free apps chart knocking the Reddit app into second place. The site is known as a place where people find out about and keep up with breaking news, so the move is fitting.

Twitter's app remains a social app on the Google Play store.
