What to watch on TV this week
Gardener’s World BBC Two, 6.30pm
This handy repeat of the previous night’s show gives you another chance to see Monty Don deal with that common affliction of blight on his box hedge. He calls in an expert to decide whether he should resort to chemical or other means of control.
He also has a more positive experience with fungii as he sets mushrooms in anticipation for a crop in the autumn. Downton Abbey fans may be interested in Rachel de Thame’s visit to the gardens of Highclere Castle in Berkshire, where the series is filmed.
How Safe is Your Home? UTV Ireland, 6pm
Angellica Bell heads out with the pest controllers as they try to deal with an infestation of rats in a family home.
One Ocean: No Limits RTÉ One, 8pm
A repeat of the enjoyable documentary on Irish rower Adam Burke and his teammates’ efforts to row across the Atlantic from Morocco to Barbados.
Dragons’ Den
BBC Two, 8pm
The sight of motor-rickshaws and tuk-tuks on foreign holidays has inspired many’s the business idea discussion, but in tonight’s show we see a couple who have actually brought it beyond the bar. Also featured are a couple trying to launch a range of Korean-style sauches.

The Rose Of Tralee International Festival 2015 RTÉ One, 8pm
Dáithí O Sé is on home ground in Co Kerry to present the first night of his interviews with the 32 Roses. The show will resume after a break for the evening news. Tomorrow’s show will feature the crowning of the winner.
Flying to the Ends of the Earth
Channel 4, 8pm
Arthur Williams may have been paralysed from the waist down in a car crash, but it hasn’t stopped him from flying his plane to some of the most remote places on the planet for this series.
In the concluding episode, he’s in the Canadian wilderness, seeing how a Native American community manage with no road access for much of the year.
The Scandalous Lady W
BBC Two, 9pm
Natalie Dormer has a face well suited to period drama, which is probably why we’ve seen her in Game of Thrones and The Tudors. In this one-off drama based on a true story, she plays Seymour, Lady Worsley, the 19th century British aristocrat who caused public scandal by leaving her husband and eloping with his best friend. The courtroom revelations that followed created a public debate on a woman’s place as her husband’s property.
Revenge Porn
Channel 4, 10pm
While relationship breakups in the modern age are unlikely to be any more bitter than in previous eras, they have spawned a new way of putting the boot into an estranged partner.
Revenge porn is on the rise as feuding individuals put intimate pictures on the internet. Anna Richardson investigates the phenomenon, and the nightmare process of getting rid of them once they go online.
The Big C

Spoiler alert, but given the subject-matter of this cancer-related drama, you can probably guess that this final episode doesn’t have a happy ending.
The Three Day Nanny

The parents of 22-month-old twins Betsy and Beau long for a proper night’s sleep. With the girls seeming to have worked out a rota for who gets to scream through the night, it hasn’t been easy. Cue the entrance of Kathryn Mewes to try and impose a new sleep regime.
Confucius: Genius Of The Ancient World
BBC Four, 10pm
Born in an era of great turmoil, Chinese philosopher Confucius put in place a quest for harmony through education and self-improvement. The final episode of Bettany Hughes’s series looks at how he teachings around 500BC went on to become so influential.
Nightingale Sky Atlantic, 9pm
This HBO film received several awards in the US earlier this year, and David Oyelowo’s performance won particular praise. Pretty much a one-man show, he plays a frazzled war veteran alone in a house as waiting for the visit of an old army buddy.

Kathryn Bigelow’s take on the hunt for Bin Laden stars Jessica Chastain and Joel Edgerton.
Who Do You Think You Are?
BBC One, 9pm
Given that Jane Seymour was actually born Joyce Frankenberg, it isn’t surprising that she has Jewish ancestry on her father’s side.
In tonight’s episode, the former Bond girl travels to Warsaw to hear the tragic tale of that city’s Jewish ghetto under the Germans, and to hear about the efforts of her great aunts to avoid the fate of so many of their peers in the Holocaust.
Rick Stein: From Venice to Istanbul
BBC Two, 9.30pm
While the fairly familiar tastes of Italy have dominated this series so far, in tonight’s episode the celebrity chef ventures into the lesser-known territory of Albania, trying out local dishes.
John Barnes: Sports Life Stories
UTV Ireland, 11pm
Kenny Dalglish is among the contributors to this documentary on his former charge at Liverpool. One of the most exciting talents in English soccer in the late 1980s and beyond, the Jamaican-born winger is also an affable figure who is particularly articulate on some of the racial abuse he suffered as a player.
