‘I would love more kisses and cuddles’

My husband of 30 years and I still have a very active sex life, but I would love more kisses and cuddles on a regular basis. He has stopped kissing me when we make love. He says he loves me but I wish I felt more loved.

When I first read your letter, I initially thought that you didn’t know how lucky you are. The rate of “coital frequency” drops by about 50% within the first year of marriage (the honeymoon effect) and it is downhill all the way after that.

On average, people between the ages of 33 and 45 have sex once a week. By the time couples reach 45 to 55, that figure deteriorates to a measly twice a month and most surveys don’t even bother analysing figures for people over the age of 65 because, by then, too many sex lives are on life support.
