I’m 48 and not concerned about losing my fertility but I dread the idea of heading headlong into the menopause, particularly when I’m otherwise well.
Fibroids are non-cancerous tumours made from muscle and fibrous tissue that grow around the womb (uterus). They can vary in size from a few centimetres to the size of a grapefruit. They are very common and one in four women will develop one or more fibroids at some point in their lives but more likely between the ages of 30-50 years.
