A Donegal GAA club has set the bar high for prize draws, with entrants in with a chance of winning a brand new house.
GAA club draws interest with prize of €155k home

The draw for the €155,000 house in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, has been organised by St Eunan’s Club in Letterkenny and it is attracting huge interest from people who have been forced to move abroad to work.

It is understood that the draw is the first since the Celtic Tiger era to offer a house as a prize.

St Eunan’s GAA club hope to raise enough in the draw to help build a new all-weather 4G floodlit pitch at its O’Donnell Park home.

The three-bedroom semi-D is in the Rann Mór Meadow development.

Club treasurer Niall Doherty said tickets for the draw cost €100 each and are attracting huge interest from home and abroad.

“Can you imagine having the chance to come home to a house that has everything including a kitchen and flooring?” he said. “That would be a huge start in life for any young couple and it’s a great incentive to come home.”

He said the club held several such draws for houses before 2007.

As well as selling the tickets locally, Mr Doherty says selling tickets on the klubfunder.com website has also proved popular.
