Beer of the week: Yellow Belly Castaway Passionfruit Sour, 4.2% Abv, 330ml — €3.55

Yellow Belly Brewery was founded in May 2015 beneath the Simon Lambert & Sons pub in Wexford and already plans are underway for a larger brewing facility and a canning line.
Beer of the week: Yellow Belly Castaway Passionfruit Sour, 4.2% Abv, 330ml — €3.55

Stockists: Bradleys, Bierhaus, Molloys Liquor Stores, widely available in Co Wexford.

Permanently on draught in the pub is its lager and pale ale but the creative juices are really let loose in its bottled range.

Sour beers are all the rage and are long overdue a mention.

Castaway was made in collaboration with Hope Beers in Howth — the Yellow Belly house Weisse recipe was soured with its own lactobacillus culture and conditioned on passionfruit giving a distinct aroma, a big sour-fruit driven palate with a slight saline earthy character.

Best served chilled.
