Beer of the week: Arrogant Bastard Ale
Stone Brewing is one of the larger US craft brewers, founded in San Marcos, California, in 1996 and recently they opened a new brewery in Berlin — the first American owned craft brewer to open a European facility.
The brews tend to be hop heavy and Stone were one of the innovators of this style which has now spread worldwide.
This beer takes a tongue-in-cheek approach with the back label declaring that “this is an aggressive beer, you probably won’t like it!”
It’s true some will find this a bit of a hop-bomb but I liked its coffee and citrus aromas, full-throated rich flavours with bitter-sweet burnt sugar on the back palate and mouth-drying finish.
