Baby carrots are beginning to pop their orange tops through the soil. They are tender and sweet this time of year and look great kept whole in salads and other dishes.

Carrots are a good vegetable to plant as they grow almost year round and are not the most difficult to tend.

Once the soil is made suitable you can grow them without too much attention or time, you need good sandy soil at least the depth of a garden spade to grow carrots well.
