The menu: Bandon Engage Arts Festival

The Menu is an awful man for dipping into his progeny’s future college fund to blow it all on gastronomic goodies and few spots are more tempting than Urru Culinary Store, in Bandon.

But he shall be content to visit sans wallet for once for the upcoming Art of Living discussion series (Sept 27) as part of the Bandon Engage Arts Festival, with this year’s talk featuring Giana and Fingal Ferguson, of Gubbeen Farm, in Schull, hosted by food writer Diane Curtin, discussing their upcoming book, Gubbeen, The Story of a Working Farm & Its Food. Mushrooms and Longueville House being two of his favourite things, The Menu’s idea of a truly pleasurable double-whammy has to be the Mushroom Hunt at Longueville House (Sept 21), a family-friendly event led by mushroom foragers Maria Cullen and Jim Fraser with Longueville Chef/Proprietor, William O’Callaghan cooking up all the foraged edible fungal treasures, a fine way to end any day. www.longuevillehouse.ie
