he feels she does not make quite the same link between food and art as he is wont to do on a daily basis, so he will be travelling alone to Concrete Tiki, a programme of food events, workshops and experiments in the Irish Museum of Modern Art over two weekends this month. Fellow Examiner scribe Michelle Darmody, of The Cake Café, and artist Fiona Hallinan have created a programme which includes a one-day revival of temporary food project The Hare (July 19) in the gardens of IMMA, with a set menu featuring mostly raw, locally sourced plant-based produce, Dublin-made sourdough bread and dips, and drinks and a selection of raw, sweet superfoods. A specially devised childrens’ menu will cost €10.
Jack ‘Rocketman’ Crotty, whose newly-opened venture on Cork’s Prince’s St, along with The Golden Bean Coffee, is already buzzing with delighted diners, gives a demo on pickling and preserving vegetables as part of a workshop programme which also includes Imen ‘Modern Farmette’ O’Donnell on buttermaking, smoker supreme Sally Barnes’ on ‘fish smoking in a biscuit tin’ and Sally McKenna gives a seaweed workshop based on her excellent tome, Extreme Greens.
