A DAY’S pleasure stolen in West Cork at this time of the year can seem like a preemptive strike against a winter determined to arrive, welcome or not.

Irrationally in this urban age the clocks go back tomorrow week so a Sunday-lunch foray to Ballylickey was an autumn day dedicated to preserving the best of the year.
