Only the sweet-toothed Danes munch their way through more chocolate than the Irish, who spent a cool €20 million on chocolate eggs last Easter.

What is it about chocolate that makes us feel so guilty about every nibble? Chocolate is perceived to be fattening. Cheap, poor quality chocolate unquestionably is. It's sweet, cloying, packed with hydrogenated vegetable fats, nut oils and a host of artificial flavourings.
