Prime Wexford lands achieve over €27k/acre at auction

The prime holding was presented in five lots (as well as the entire).

An 87-acre holding 12km from Enniscorthy in Co Wexford featured here in February was successfully sold at auction recently.

The sale was carried out by Gorey-based auctioneers Quinn Property in an exclusively online auction on Wednesday, April 8.

Located in the townland of Garraun Upper (2km from Rathnure), the prime holding was presented in five lots (as well as the entire), with a pre-auction price guide in the region of €15,000/acre.

Auctioneer David Quinn described it as one of the most “hotly anticipated of the year, with a lot to suit every type of customer… the lots are laid out in five separate lots, all of which have good road frontage.”

The access, he added, may present potential for a residential site.

An exceptional level of interest had built up in advance of the sale, with more than 20 bidders registered beforehand. The lots were presented individually and sold separately for the following prices:

  • Lot 1 (22.3a) — sold for €680,000;
  • Lot 2 (31a) — sold for €730,000;
  • Lot 3 (11.6a) — sold for €280,000;
  • Lot 4 (18a) — sold for €440,000;
  • Lot 5 (5a with sheds and outbuildings) — sold for €230,000.

“All five lots sold for strong prices, reaching a combined total of €2,360,000,” commented David after the successful auction.

"This equates to an average price of over €27,000/acre, which is well above typical land values in the area.

“The result highlights the continued strength of the market in County Wexford.”
