Clonakilty-based auctioneers Hodnett Forde Property Services have two quality West Cork holdings new to the market.

The first is a 17-acre farm at Farranthomas, near Bandon. This is a strong area for land sales, where demand for the quality grassland of the area has long been impressive.

“It’s located at the edge of Newcestown village, adjoining the pitch-and-putt course on its eastern boundary,” says selling agent John Hodnett.

The holding is all in pasture and has dual access from both the Enniskean-Newcestown road and the Newcestown-Bandon road.

“The southern boundary has been newly fenced and the rest is securely fenced… an ideal opportunity for a hobby farmer or for a farmer looking to extend his existing holding.

“There’s good interest in it. It’s an executor sale and I’ve had a good number of enquiries.”

The property is quoting a price guide of €15,000-€20,000/acre, in keeping with recent prices in the area.

The second property is a 37.5-acre farm at Cashel, near the village of Leap — 2km north of Connonagh and 7km west of Rosscarbery. It’s quoting €12,000-€15,000/acre.

“It’s in three lots (12, 12 and 13.5 acres) and currently under pasture, with Lots A and B adjoining one another,” says Mr Hodnett. “It’s up for sale a couple of weeks and the three lots are under offer already.”
