TikTok Ireland head of government relations Susan Moss, Agri Aware chairman Shay Galvin, CarlowâKilkenny TD Peter âChapâ Cleere, and Tiktok creator Fiona Bergin at the Ploughing Championships in Offaly this week.Â
Fiona Bergin, one of the most recognisable faces of farming TikTok â or âFarmTokâ as it is affectionately known by fans â attended the National Ploughing Championships this week to promote farm safety.
Ms Bergin is this yearâs face of Agri Awareâs 'Sowing Wellbeing in Every Field' campaign.
The campaign contains three main focuses:Â
- Physical safety risks around machinery and livestock;Â
- Wellbeing and physical health;Â
- Building stronger networks within farming communities.
The initiative featured prominently at this yearâs National Ploughing Championships, and with its partnership with TikTok at Irelandâs largest agricultural event, it served as a launching pad to gather survey insights from the farming community, which will be shared with the Department of Agriculture to inform future farm safety initiatives and policy development.
With almost half a million followers on TikTok, Ms Bergin hopes to amplify awareness surrounding farm safety to her followers and beyond with campaign-exclusive content on her page.
âYouâll find a video on my profile describing my experiences with farm safety,â Ms Bergin explained.
Speaking with the
, Ms Bergin told farmers to slow down and be conscious of the dangers in everyday life. She said:Â
With farming TikTokers and their content stretching far and wide, and their popularity expanding even beyond a rural audience, they are a growing demographic on the influencer scene.
âMany people donât grow up with farming backgrounds, and it gives them an opportunity to get an insight into the world,â Ms Bergin said, discussing the widespread popularity of farming TikToks.
Susan Moss, head of public policy and government relations at TikTok Ireland, said:
âBy amplifying the voices of our #FarmTok creators, and engaging our #FarmTok community, which has more than doubled to 1m posts since last year, we hope to encourage open conversations on farm safety and help strengthen farming communities nationwide.â
