600 farmers wanted for EU-funded water quality pilot

Deadline approaching for EU-funded LIFE programme for water quality.

Up to 600 Irish farmers will be paid up to €2,000/ha as part of a new Waters of LIFE agri-environmental programme to improve water quality.

Six sub-catchments have been chosen for the project: Avonmore, Co Wicklow; Awbeg (Kilbrin), Co Cork; Graney, Co Clare; Sheen, Co Kerry; Islands, which straddles Co Galway and Co Roscommon border; Shournagh, Co Cork.
