The weekly supply of finished cattle is continuing to increase week-on-week, with farmers under pressure to move ready stock and ease the load on scarce grass supply in a very poor growing season.

The beef processors are continuing to exert their sustained downward pressure on the prices for most categories of stock for intake this week.

With another 5c/kg wiped off the quotes for both steers and heifers - the third consecutive week of price cuts - there is growing concern among finishers that the €5/kg benchmark base for steers may be breached within days.
