According to Joe Kelleher, Teagasc organic specialist, there has been an "unprecedented increase in the number of farmers converting to organics over the past two years, including a significant number of beef farmers".

Teagasc is developing an organic beef research farm at Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford. 

The 40-hectare Kildavin farm at Johnstown Castle is set to prepare for organic conversion this summer before the first influx of organic weanlings arrives on the farm in the autumn time.
