5c/kg sliced off beef prices as intake strengthens
Producers are not in a position to force the hand of the processors, with the intake strengthening closer to 40,000 head last week, writes Martin Ryan.
Finishers who held back stock in anticipation of upward-only price movement on the basis of expected tighter supply are now being burned.
The processors have sliced another 5c/kg off prices for both steers and heifers this week as suppliers are being urged by the farming leaders to intensify their resistance to the ongoing reductions.
