Paula Hynes: Prosecco in the straw is a perfect Valentine's to me

Paula Hynes: Prosecco in the straw is a perfect Valentine's to me

Rathard Resilient's dam with her fourth calf on the Hynes' farm

You have to love farming in order to stick to the long hours, and as calving runs at full speed now with 14-hour days and late nights, I truly do love my job. Otherwise, I just wouldn’t stick to the pace.

There are four or five calves born every day now, but I always feel it is easier to be calving them as opposed to looking at them in anticipation. Amongst the hectic schedule on farm, I had to take a trip to Dublin to collect Becky as she arrived home from Australia, she certainly managed to grab some sunshine out there and has a fine farmers tan compared to the rest of us.
