Beef producers hope for 'Ploughing' lift to prices
The base for steers is 465c/kg, in general, with some lots making 470c/kg.
The slight recovery in beef prices at the factories over recent weeks has been maintained for now, while the bosses at the processing plants continue to hold a tight rein on upward movement.
Despite the pressure placed on the processors to increase the prices to get sufficient stock over the past two weeks, the official returns reveal that the stabilising of the trade is a large measure of what has been achieved.
