Drop ‘unjustified’ as first processor announces price for August milk supplies

Farmers currently are "producing milk below the cost of production".

The base price for August milk supplies of 34c per litre confirmed by Lakeland Dairies this week is "really unjustified and unacceptable", the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) has claimed.

Lakeland's price represents a reduction of 1.5c per litre on the July price. The average payout for August milk in the Republic of Ireland is 38c per litre.
